Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream | Review

When I heard that Nyx had finally arrived at my local Boots store I couldn't wait to go down and see what all the hype was about the internationally popular brand.

As I was on a bit of a budget, I had to control myself and so I only picked up 3 things, but believe me I'll be going back for more! I got a concealer, lip liner and a soft matte lip cream. Today I'm going to talk about the soft matte lip cream as it's such a lovely liquid lipstick and is a great drugstore alternative for brands like Mac and Anastasia.

I got the shade 'Stockholm' as I wanted to try a nude liquid lipstick as opposed to the brighter coloured ones I currently have in my make up drawer.

Along with a Nyx lip liner in the shade 'Nude Suede Shoes' I found that this colour was a perfect match for me. I'm always a bit cautious when it comes to nudes as I'm so pale that sometimes they can wash me out, as I mentioned in my Charlotte Tilbury lipstick review, but this has a slight peachy tone to it so it doesn't wash me at all. Plus, it smells like strawberries and cream, love it!

When applied this liquid lipstick feels very creamy and light which I love to find in a liquid lipstick as sometimes they can feel quite heavy and drying. When I compare it to my Mac liquid lipstick, the formula is a little bit drying when setting, but I think that's something you have to expect in most matte formulas and it's nothing uncomfortable, I barely noticed it after a few minutes.

The one bad thing is that this lip cream didn't have a very long lasting power. I'd say it'd last maybe 4-5 hours tops and then you'd definitely have to re-apply, but for just £5.50 I think that this lip product is the perfect option if you're looking for a drugstore liquid lipstick and I will definitely be going back to Boots to add some more to my collection.
